November was the second meeting after the revival of the Vaal Triangle Sub-branch in September 2005. A new committee was appointed under the leadership of Karl Engelbreght and Colin Simms, after the failure of the previous chairman to keep it afloat, due to business responsibilities.

We started off in October 2005 with a technical presentation sponsored by Metso Automation, on 'Smart positioners and software available'. This created a healthy discussion as members were not aware of all the functionality available on the market. SAIMC Vaal Triangle would like to thank Reg Ellerbek and his team for the excellent presentation and for supporting us on the first occasion.

The November 2005 meeting was sponsored by Sensus Metering Systems, with a technical presentation on 'Industrial flowmeters in industry' and was given by Ian Love, who is the area manager. the members were startled at the rands/m³ losses occurring due to faulty or broken meters - and the problems that could occur due to faulty installations. SAIMC Vaal would like to thank Ian and his team for the professional presentation - a presentation which needed to take the time that it did to do full justice to the equipment that was covered.

At time of going to press we were looking forward to the December 2005 meeting - a 'Social evening' where members were encouraged to attend a braai.

The SAIMC Vaal Triangle will have all meetings on the third Wednesday of each month at 18h00 at the Vanderbijlpark Cricket and Hockey Club. All are welcome to attend.
