October 2015System Integration & Control Systems Design
It is evident that there has been an increased demand for water and wastewater services throughout the SADC region. This has been compounded by several years of poor maintenance, together with instances of theft and vandalism. It has become clear that water and sewage handling infrastructure in multiple cities, towns and informal settlements across the country, has become severely constrained and often outdated.
Afrilek, together with a leading mechanical engineering company, is creating waves in a multitude of communities. According to the company it has improved service delivery through fast turn-around times for automation, instrumentation and mechanical solutions. Equipped with a strong in-house panel manufacturing and design team, Afrilek was commissioned by its mechanical partner to design and manufacture several control and electrical panels. The team, adopting modern technology that included a full PLC/RTU control solutions and intelligent protection systems, ensured the smooth operations of these plants. All the projects were tackled within severely constrained timescales, however, due to the extensive staff experience and capabilities every ‘emergency’ project was up and running in record time. As an example, a motor control centre with handover certificate for a pump station was designed, manufactured and installed within a week. This is proof of the company’s dedication to service delivery and commitment to our customer requirements.
Delivering safe and high availability solutions timeously to clients is achieved through excellent partnerships with suppliers. Afrilek will keep tackling these projects to ensure it makes a difference in the communities and keep water flowing in small rural areas, which seem to be the most affected.
