Expert System Solutions (ESS) is building on its successful launch of the ESS wireless RTU unit with integrated scada gateway launched in 2014. The value of the RTU’s inbuilt Linux microprocessor simplifies programming and enhances the capability to adapt to client specific requirements.
The intelligent processing capabilities, the low bandwidth utilisation by the RTU unit and general system development flexibility have been expanded to include a broader base of wireless communication technologies. Currently the ESS RTU can be integrated in solutions and applications using wireless communication technologies including TETRA, DMR, MPT1327 and GSM. RTU protocols include OPC, Modbus, IEC-8870-5-101,103 and DNP-3. The RTU physical connection can be RS-232, RS-485 and LAN (TCP/IP) capable of interfacing with PLC, scada, discrete I/O, analog inputs and others.
ESS has provided solutions to the oil and gas and mining industry, successfully integrating the RTU with existing wireless communication capabilities to address company specific safety, monitoring and control requirements. In expanding Sasol’s Secunda plants utilising its TETRA radio communications systems, ESS designed and engineered a fully integrated, standalone mission-critical public address (PA) system for Sasol Mining.
Besides Sasol, ESS is supplying an integrated monitoring and control solution for Kumba’s Sishen TETRA radio communications upgrade project, the South African Police Service, Erkhureleni Municipality and Exxaro.
ESS focuses on providing operational solutions to a broad based business and economic environment. A secure monitoring and control system for ATMs has successfully been designed and implemented. This application incorporates building management and access control systems.
