SEW Eurodrive is familiar with the demands of the construction and building materials industry. Machinery, systems and technology must be robust, withstand high torque loads and meet the demands of advancing globalisation. Production systems for building materials must be modular constructions, and building materials systems must be quick and easy to reassemble and adapt to new processes and programmes. Not only that, expedient services must ensure maximum availability.
The SEW Eurodrive modular concept permits millions of combinations and therefore the best scenario for finding the right drive for the application. The drive can be selected to best suit the required speed and torque ranges. The SEW range in helical, parallel shaft, Spiroplan, and planetary configurations provide power up to 200 kW and torques exceeding 1-million Nm.
The drives are electronically controlled by SEW's range of frequency inverters which provide integrated positioning, sequence control, hoisting capabilities, and automated systems for drives up to 90 kW.
For raw materials processing in such environments as gravel pits, quarry, clay pits, etc, there are drive units for excavators, belt conveyors, elevators, shredders, crushers, mills, stone saws, classifiers, screens and separators. Drive solutions include high overload capacity; multiple shaft sealing with optional reinforced output shaft bearings. Special corrosion protection with special finishes; rustproof screws and motor treatment are additional features. The same factors apply for building construction, civil and underground engineering as well as road construction and hydraulic engineering involving pumps, cranes, mixers, etc.
For the production and handling of cement, lime, plaster, etc the geared motors are provided with the necessary environmental protection for conveyors, dosing equipment, mixers, rotary kilns, mills, weighers, sacking machines, press belts, palletisers, etc. In addition, they can be fitted with integrated encoders and mechanical brakes for precise control positioning and automation using Movidrive inverters.
Production and handling finished parts made of concrete, or bricks, ceramic tiles, shingles, etc, can be powered by units with squirrel-cage motors and synchronous servomotors, with optional integrated encoders and mechanical brakes. Control, positioning and automation is possible with drive inverters, for conveyors, dosing equipment, mixers, vibrating compactors, X-Y plotters, millers, handling gates, stackers.
The picture shows some of the basic elements from the extensive SEW range of drives and electronic control devices for the building and construction industry.
