SEW-Eurodrive produces the robust X series industrial gear units on an independent platform with finely graduated size to cover the torque range up to 475 kNm. Recently, the German drive automation specialist rounded off the lower power range of the series and is now offering proven gear units for torques from 6,8 to 45 kNm. The extremely large gear ratio (6,3 to 450) is evidence that with its X Series, the company has met the requirements for a complete, comprehensive range of industrial gear units.
When it comes to helical and bevel-helical gear units, nearly any mounting position or shaft arrangement can be implemented, the X series’ finely graduated size and high power density resulting in savings in both weight and cost. The extensive choice of accessory equipment creates flexibility for adjusting the unit in each respective application and includes motor adapters and mounting flanges, backstops and cooling systems as well as sealing for a variety of environmental conditions.
One main area of application for SEW’s industrial gear units is conveyor systems in mining and a variety of related industries. In this context, the gear units are used to drive conveyor belts and bucket elevators for the horizontal and vertical transport of bulk material. They also run the travel and hoist drive on cranes or serve as a drive with reinforced bearings for mixers and agitators. Additionally, X Series industrial gear units are used in industries such as the chemicals, food, plastic and steel.
SEW-Eurodrive supplies drive packages for its customers by including components such as industrial gear units, motors, couplings, brakes and steel frames. The South African arm of the company has a dedicated industrial gear unit factory in Nelspruit, which services the local market with custom designed X series units to ensure short delivery times and greater design flexibility.
