Hitachi introduces next generation inverter

September 2007 Motion Control & Drives

Hitachi has recently introduced its SJ700 inverter in South Africa. The new inverter offers trip avoidance and 0,3 Hz 200% starting torque through improvements to the sensorless vector control. The high starting torque means that the inverter suits applications such as cranes, extruders and lifts. The drive incorporates auto-tuning, which simplifies adjustment of the motor constants.

Trip avoidance during acceleration and deceleration is achieved through a combination of fast internal processing speed, improved current control and the over-current and over-voltage suppression functions.

The SJ700 incorporates features such as an electromagnetically compatible filter which meets the EN61800-3-2nd environmental standard. The braking unit is integrated in units up to 22 kW, reducing cost and space requirements.

The inverter is backwards compatibility with Hitachi's SJ300 drives. Data from existing Hitachi SJ300 drives can be copied and downloaded via the remote operator (SRW-OJ) to an SJ700 drive. The terminal blocks of the SJ300 and SJ700 are identical.
