Most plant operators would like their instrumentation to be as homogenous as possible ie, easy to use and all operate in a similar way. The Hach range of multiprobe digital controllers available from PREI Instrumentation can accept any two sensors in a mix or match arrangement from Hach's range of digital sensors. Each sensor is designed for simple 'plug-and-play' connection, ready for deployment without any cabling, configuration or software changes.
Apart from the industry standard 0/4-20 mA outputs, this flexible controller can communicate via Modbus/RS485, Modbus/RS232, Profibus DP, Ethernet or LonWorks protocols to provide realtime data to scada or PLC systems, as well as an infrared download port.
A feature of this system is that the data is stored and retrieved direct from the sensors. The controller is only addressed for control and alarm settings. These controllers can now be inexpensively linked to scada systems. The Profibus network has one, two-core cable connecting up to 126 devices.
