Category 4 safety light barrier

April 2004 Motion Control & Drives

The new Wenglor Category 4 safety light barrier uses visible red light, which significantly simplifies light barrier set-up. It is available with two different resolutions: one for finger protection and one for hand protection. The SG4-00 is equipped with a wear-free semiconductor output.

In addition to standard functions such as blanking, restart disabling and relay control, the new Category 4 safety light barrier is equipped with numerous additional capabilities as well. Functions such as fix blanking, floating blanking, reduced resolution and cascading, provide solutions for diverse automation tasks. These operating modes assure high levels of safety for machine operators as well as continuous, uninterrupted production sequences.

The new safety light barrier is convenient for use at high-tech workstations because it is capable of communicating with a PC. A load-side relay switching module, a muting unit and a mains power pack are available as accessories.
