A year of innovation and milestones for ISO-Reliability Partners

January 2025 Motion Control & Drives

For ISO-Reliability Partners, 2024 was a transformative year marked by innovation, collaboration, and a steadfast commitment to advancing industrial reliability. Guided by CEO, Craig FitzGerald, the company has introduced cutting-edge technologies, expanded its product portfolio, and strengthened its reputation as a leader in lubrication, filtration and tribology. “We have consistently pushed the boundaries of industrial maintenance with innovative products designed to enhance operational efficiency and reduce environmental impact,” says FitzGerald.

For example, the Air Wizard inline water trap is a locally designed and patented solution that effectively removes water, oily fluids, rust and particulates from compressed air systems. This consumable-free innovation reduces maintenance costs and enhances air system reliability. The Air Wizard extracts about 97% of free water in the system, including foreign contaminants such as pipe scale, rust and dust, thereby significantly reducing corrosion and extending equipment life.

As the exclusive South African distributor of Royal Purple, ISO-Reliability Partners introduced the BioMax range. These are environmentally acceptable lubricants meeting stringent EPA and EU Ecolabel standards. “BioMax products combine biodegradability with exceptional performance, making them ideal for ecologically sensitive areas,” says FitzGerald. He adds that the science of lubrication is generally misunderstood by industry professionals, with most unaware of the considerable value achievable through premium lubricants. The market opts for low-cost lubricants supplied by the oil majors, which ultimately leads to unnecessarily high maintenance and repair costs.

As a leader in premium performance lubricants, ISO-Reliability Partners is a trusted distributor for the world’s most prominent specialty manufacturers, including Bel-Ray, Royal Purple, Chemours, Brugarolas and its local offering, Habot synthetics. The SAL Elite is a German-manufactured automatic lubricator that ensures consistent lubrication, reducing downtime and extending component life. It automates maintenance, while ensuring precision, a critical aspect for operational efficiency. In collaboration with Yateks, ISO-Reliability Partners brought advanced inspection and monitoring technologies to the African market.

Yateks borescopes are high-quality inspection tools for nondestructive testing across industries as diverse as aviation, manufacturing, automotive, forensics and mining. By incorporating Yateks borescopes into maintenance protocols, companies can dramatically reduce equipment inspection times, and pre-empt failures, reducing downtime and costs.

Also, in partnership with Yateks, ISO-Reliability Partners, through its division YateksAfrica, has introduced sensors capable of providing continuous oil condition monitoring. Real-time oil analysis has tremendous advantages with high accuracy measurements for viscosity, density, oxidation and water in parts per million. These innovations empower businesses to detect and address issues proactively, greatly enhancing machinery reliability.

As a global leader in the technological development of oil analysis equipment, Yateks offers a wide range of portable oil analysis tools, from the ‘Lab-In-A-Box’ comprehensive oil analyser to advanced spectrographic analysis equipment. The company has reaffirmed its dedication to sustainable practices, which is evident in its products, service offerings and operational ethos. FitzGerald articulates the company’s vision: “Through efficient use of resources and innovative solutions, we not only improve reliability but also reduce environmental impact for our esteemed customer base.”

In 2024, with its class-leading microfine filtration systems, ISO-Reliability Partners recovered, purified and returned to service more than 262 000 litres of industrial lubricating oil for customers across a wide range of industries. Recently, a lifecycle analysis conducted by IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute calculated the climate impact of a conventional oil cycle at 3830 kg CO2 equivalent per m3 of oil. This amounts to an environmental saving of just over 1 million kg of CO2.

As ISO-Reliability Partners prepares for 2025, the focus remains on driving innovation and delivering maximum value to its clients. The company’s ongoing development of predictive maintenance platforms, powered by AI, promises to redefine the industry standard for reliability and efficiency. “2024 was a year of laying foundations and achieving milestones. Our advancements this year position us to make an even greater impact going forward,” concludes FitzGerald.
