Mini controller includes voice alarm function

July 2003 PLCs, DCSs & Controllers Robotics & Mechatronics

The FAB Giant from Flexible Electronic Systems offers 127 useful function blocks specifically for time control applications. Analog inputs are accommodated, permitting long-distance monitoring of processes - and a special modem connector permits the user to remotely alter the program - and print out parameter values. The unit is able to telephone the necessary person and play a voice message describing the conditions that he needs to be made aware of.

Interface options include:

* RS232 for modem and PC.

* FAB to RS485 to PC (for networking and monitoring).

* Interface between comm port of PC and 485 bus (for networking).

* Phone voice block for recording and broadcasting, interface between AD-C323 and modem.

Programming may be executed directly using the LCD screen and the unit's pushbuttons - with no need for any additional special tools or equipment. Free software for monitoring and control: 'QUICK' and 'FAB-scada' are provided. The removable, user-friendly human interface units permit the user to control a number of FAB units from a single LCD display and pushbutton panel.
