Digital indicators get plug-and-play

September 2000 Industrial Computer Hardware

Instrotech says that its locally manufactured range of digital panel meters supplied has now developed into one of the world's only two exclusive ranges with 'plug-and-play' options. Instead of having the factory fit options such as retransmission, which required calibration values stored on the motherboard, the option boards now contain a serial EEPROM. This allows the customer to buy the options separately and plug them into existing base instruments.

When these options are added the microprocessor recognises that an option is fitted and alters its program accordingly. This feature is of great importance to remote users and especially overseas distributors.
