SAIMC Johannesburg Branch

March 2001 SAIMC

Our February meeting followed the disturbingly low turnout for the AGM in January, with a similarly low attendance figure. Tony Jacobson of Burkurt Contromatic gave an interesting talk on Top Control, resulting in a very lively question and answer session that lasted almost as long as the talk itself. Thank you once again for those who attended.

This chairman was told afterwards that the possible reason for the poor attendance was that the date happened to fall on Valentine's Day. That might be so but what about the rest of the meetings throughout the year, is it Valentine's Day every month?

The topic for our April meeting is: 'Troubleshooting fieldbus networks'. (Make sure to diarise 11 April for that one.)

Important announcement

The founding meeting of the East Rand Sub branch will be held on 10 April 2001 at 18h00 at the offices of Rand Instruments in the Dersley Centre, Cloverfield Road in Springs and we call on all our members in the east to attend. The committee for this sub branch will be chosen on the evening, so it is very important for us to have as many members present as possible. The presentation will deal with magnetic level measurement and the speaker will be Johan Steyn of Kübler Africa, your Johannesburg Branch Chairman.

For more information please contact Paul Van Heerden at (011) 816 2777, 083 655 0626 or [email protected]

Our members must also make note of our annual business breakfast that will take place on 31 May 2001; ticket sales will be starting very soon and more information on the venue and speaker will be available shortly.

Johan Steyn - Chairman
