SAIMC

From the president's desk

March 2009 SAIMC

This is quite a sad day for me. I have realised that this is my last communication as president of the SAIMC. It is amazing how quickly the year has gone, I was just getting into the stride of things and now I have to hand over the reins to the new incoming president. Our Council AGM will be held at the Rivonia Club on 11 March 2009. Hope to see many of you there. I will deliver my ‘state of the nation’ speech...oh hang on, those are reserved for presidents of countries, ok so I will have to wait another five years?

We are always looking for new people to join at branch or even council level, so now is your opportunity to be part of the SAIMC. Although the year flew by, I am extremely proud of my fellow councillors and branches. My mission was to make our members see the value that the SAIMC does bring. From the feedback that I have received from members, the branches and looking at reports, I think it is fair to say that we did have an impact this year. We tried a few different things, some were more successful than others; the worst thing one can do is to keep on doing the same thing but expect a different outcome, so we tried!

I will still be part of this GREAT institute and will contribute where I can. So to my fellow councillors, all the branches and most importantly our members, thank you for making the SAIMC the institute of choice! Thank you to the members of the press for covering our events and giving us the airtime in your publications, the SAIMC values your participation and involvement.

Best wishes to all…

Paulo da Silva

President SAIMC

SAIMC SAIMC
“Never have so many owed so much to so few.” This phrase is a famous quote by Winston Churchill, referring to the efforts of the Royal Air Force pilots who fought in the Battle of Britain during World War II. It highlights the immense gratitude owed to the relatively small number of pilots who played a crucial role in defending the United Kingdom from the German Luftwaffe.
