Two new modules in the Tempcon series from Phoenix Contact expand the inline automation series with the functionality of temperature and process control. With six or eight control loops, the temperature controller is a compact module. It can be configured as a two-point or three-point controller and as a motor step controller.
Virtually all common systems for temperature controllers such as start-up circuitry or autotune for the control parameters are already integrated. With functions such as set value reduction and heating current monitoring, the multichannel controller is suitable for use in plastics processing machines, packaging and wood processing machines, and in similar thermal processes. All functions are parameterised with an easy-to-operate engineering tool. The integrated monitoring and diagnostics functions give the user quick access to and control over process parameters.
These self-contained, distributed controllers ensure safety at all times, as they are still operational when decoupled from central controllers, even after CPU failure. All control algorithms and sensor and actuator monitoring are processed reliably. This ensures a reaction to critical process statuses.
