The Sumpi MR ultrasonic level transmitter from KAB Instruments has many features. A new feature enables the user to view the mA output on the display, by pressing the run key. This eliminates any need to initiate plant overrides, open the unit, disconnect the loop and connect a multimeter in series with the mA output. Loss of echo time is also displayed. Pressing the enter key causes a diagnostic feature to be displayed. This will display the echo size, the distance to the object off of which the echo is reflecting - as well as an indication of RX gain and pulse amplifier utilisation. The device has a programmable 21-point lineariser; this allows the user to program the profile of any shape tank into the ultrasonic unit, permitting effective volumetric conversion. A multiplication factor is programmable for displaying the actual volume in a tank. The user can program any abbreviated engineering units to be displayed on the screen.
The Sumpi MR is programmable for measuring up to 30 m in applications with dusty solids or liquids. It has an isolated 4-20mA output and two programmable relay/alarm outputs. A two-line alphanumeric LCD display enables easy menu setup and doubles as a local display.
