Endress+Hauser has obtained PTB weights and measures certification for the FuelsManager/RTU 8130-based systems, allowing the inventory management software to be used in applications where custody transfer approval is required. "Enhancing the security of data was the key improvement over previous versions of the software, which led directly to gaining industry standard certification," says Grant Joyce, Endress+Hauser spokesperson.
PTB is the national institute of natural and engineering sciences and the highest technical authority for metrology and physical safety engineering in Germany. The institute performs R&D to determine natural constants, realisation, maintenance and dissemination of legal units and safety engineering, which is regulated by law or used in industry.
"An important by-product of PTB's work is to build confidence in the reliability and impartiality of measurements for the consumer, authority or company. Together with other research institutes and industry, PTB fulfils this function internationally on a long-term basis," says Joyce.
The recent certification, coupled with NMI (Dutch Institute for Metrology and Technology) approval allows FuelsManager 2000 Inventory Management Software to be used in areas where custody transfer needs approval. The improved software provides security through data integrity. Weights and measures functionality will not allow manipulation of data on tank gauging systems when connected via Rackbus, V1 or Modbus protocols to the NMS53x Proservo, FMR53x Micropilot and NRF 590 Tank Side Monitor.
