Siemens Automation & Drives (A&D) is now offering Simovert Masterdrives' Vector Control drive (rated 0,5 to 18,5 kW) to extend the Masterdrives family to cover the range from 0,5 to 6000 kW. The new converter, along with the Masterdrives Motion Control Compact PLUS, is part of an integrated drive system ranging from winders to servo-drives. By combining the drives with the control systems Vector Control and Motion Control, for example, it is possible to realise cost-effective multi-axis solutions using standardised drive technology.
The Masterdrives Vector Control converter of the Compact PLUS type suits motion control pre- and post-processing solutions in many areas of the industry, for example continuous web, stretching, winding and pulling. With its low power requirements and a compact design, the Masterdrives Vector Control drive now offers high torque accuracy - with and without an encoder - with full moment utilisation through 100% output voltage and in the field weakening range of 1:5.
The converter can also serve as a rectifier unit for inverters with the same total power and can supply a maximum of two inverters with power at 24 V. This allows for a compact multi-axis system. The 'Safe Stop' function for Masterdrives prevents unexpected start-ups of the connected motor in combination with an external protective circuit.
