Osterwalder launches multi-plate, fully electric powder press

July 2026 Motion Control & Drives

Osterwalder Technology has launched the MPneo 480, a high-precision, 480 kN multi-plate, fully electric powder press with up to six cross-pressing modules. It is designed for multi-material applications including hard metals, iron-based materials, technical ceramics and advanced engineered materials, and is available with integrated part removal system (PRS) automation to support the production of complex parts with consistent quality, high efficiency, and reduced environmental impact.

Full process control through true multi-plate technology

The MPneo 480 provides full process control, with all axes press-active throughout the compaction cycle. This enables true multi-plate production and maximum flexibility across part designs and materials. By actively controlling every pressing axis, the machine supports complex geometries, multi-level parts and density variations, while maintaining stable quality and repeatability.

Integrated automation as a complete production system

The MPneo 480 functions as a complete, integrated production system. The fully electric press can be equipped with Osterwalder’s PRS, creating a fully automated press cell that increases output, reduces manual intervention and improves operational safety. Offline programming and simulation further reduce setup and downtime by allowing jobs to be prepared outside the machine without interrupting ongoing production.

Designed for efficient and sustainable production

The MPneo 480 supports more sustainable production by reducing material and energy consumption across the pressing process. Its near-net-shape capability and high precision help limit material waste, which is especially valuable for the efficient use of critical raw materials. The fully electric design reduces greenhouse gas emissions compared with hydraulic presses, eliminating the need for cooling water. Integrated monitoring further supports process stability and energy optimisation. For customers, these features result in more sustainable production and a lower cost per part.

Built for today’s expectations

“Customers increasingly want to produce more complex parts while maintaining high quality and productivity, without adding process complexity or increasing production costs,” says Aaron Coone, managing director at Osterwalder Technology. “We developed the MPneo 480 to meet these needs, giving customers full control over the pressing process so they can produce complex parts efficiently and consistently, without longer setups or higher costs.”
