Remote service for flue gas oxygen analyser systems
April 2002
Analytical Instrumentation & Environmental Monitoring
The RS247 web-enabled remote service system allows immediate access to all Thermox analysers on-site. As a result, analyser performance and process efficiencies can be determined at a very low cost. Depending on preference, Thermox or plant personnel can monitor, calibrate, service and maintain Thermox analysers via local area network, wide area network and/or Internet on a 24 h, seven-day week schedule.
This new service from Thermox, assures the highest level of reliability for oxygen and CO2 measurements. Users can instantly view the data to ensure an optimised low excess oxygen set point operation to realise maximum fuel savings and NOx reduction.
The RS247 gateway converts the RS485 Ametek protocol to an open system HSE (high-speed Ethernet) protocol. The RS247 gateway can be set up on a local area network and/or wide area network allowing plant or company-wide access to all Thermox IQ and Series 2000-based analysers. The user can choose to access the RS247 gateway system using the World Wide Web through his IT system or dial up network (local ISP) using a standard web browser such as MS Explorer or Netscape. The system can e-mail a primary, secondary and tertiary list when a system alarm or event occurs. It also provides trending, service and calibration history.
This new service assures the highest level of reliability for oxygen, combustibles, and/or methane measurements used to control combustion operations. Its remote monitoring capability allows the user to view the combustion processes to make sure operation is at peak efficiency, resulting in reduced fuel costs and NOx emissions.
The RS247 (remote service 24-hours a day, 7-days a week) gateway system enables Thermox to assume a pro-active service provider role that fosters a closer working relationship with customers. It also provides customers located around the world with direct access to Thermox resources.
