The PFM (Profibus Fieldbus Module) connects the APACS+ process automation system to Profibus - a high-speed, digital two-way serial communication bus. Profibus technology offers a wide range of applications in process and factory automation.
With a Profibus system, users have the opportunity to employ a truly open approach to vendor independence and interoperability using a broad range of Profibus products such as transmitters, valve positioners, remote I/O modules, variable frequency drives and many other common automation components used in applications throughout the process industries.
The PFM operates as a Profibus Master in an APACS+ system, providing realtime data access from devices on the bus. Process instrumentation in electrically hazardous areas of a plant are connected using Profibus-PA link-couplers. Couplers allow the APACS+ system with a PFM to interface with other popular buses such as ASi bus and DeviceNet.
Agency approvals - The PFM is now available with various agency approvals and their respective standards as listed in the table.
