Manufacturing and engineering companies now have access to software that will integrate their industrial control instrumentation with their business systems such as ERP, billing, wages and material management. CS System Solutions, a new division of JSE-listed CS Holdings, provides a range of solutions that addresses this untapped market.

Headed by MD Dave Vink, the company combines four companies whose core competencies are engineering and production systems development. The skills base of the combined company includes professionally trained process control engineers and systems development personnel. The company operates from Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban, and successful projects have been completed in all the major manufacturing industries, including automotive, sugar, chemicals, food and beverages, metals and mining engineering.

Vink says CS System Solutions will continue to supply the same services to existing customers, while offering horizontal integration through the additional services made possible through its association with the specialised divisions within CS Holdings. "This combination provides the systems, outsourcing, training, hardware and networking that are needed in order to set up, enhance and maintain a complete information technology and process control infrastructure.

CS Holdings, with its experience in ERP implementation and training provides additional support for the vertical model." CS Holdings' existing customer base provides further opportunities for CS System Solutions offerings with combined marketing opportunities.

"Large investments in enterprise resource planning, financial and other business systems are leveraged by adding the dynamic link with the shop floor control systems,"says Vink. "This is an area where business information consultants do not have the technical knowledge and understanding of process control engineering."

Vink says that CS Holdings have already offered one-stop solutions to selected clients who are recognised market leaders.
