Recognising the need for more accurate and consistent measurements in the HVAC industry and maintenance, Testo has launched the model 445 instrument, combining temperature, velocity and humidity measurements in one unit. Routine applications, with up to 99 locations, can be pre-programmed and identified - and more than 3000 readings may be stored in memory.

A convenient connection via serial RS232 port allows the user to download and process the data on computer to generate reports, analyse statistical data and store tables for reference and ISO classification purposes. Besides temperature, humidity and velocity the Testo 445 also allows measurements for CO₂, which is closely related to sick building syndrome and affects air quality. High levels of CO₂ result in fatigue at the workplace, reduce productivity and are an indicator of whether sufficient fresh air is circulated in air-conditioned environments.

The Testo 445 has also found important applications in the agricultural industry, where temperature, ventilation and humidity levels in chicken pens, e.g. incubators and pigsties are crucial for optimum yields.

For hospital and laboratory engineers the Testo 445 and 450 instruments will ensure that accurate and reliable measurements can be documented. This can be done for the climatic conditions of intensive care units (ICU), in pathological laboratories as well as research environments where changes have a profound influence on the wellbeing of patients and in the success of research projects. In the food industry the checking of ventilation and ambient conditions have become increasingly important factors in HACCP procedures and ISO 9000 certification. The Testo 445 is one instrument that makes many checks possible in a convenient and easy manner.
