A growing application for Monitran's vibration sensors is in tunnel extraction systems, for the effective monitoring of fan performance.
Recent installations include Monitran's MTN/1100C series accelerometers in a key UK road tunnel where they are playing a crucial role in predictive maintenance routines, helping to ensure consistent operation of the extraction system and enabling acceptable air conditions to be maintained within the tunnel environment. The latter is particularly crucial to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Vibration sensors such as the MTN/1100C can be installed in many different types of passenger, freight and service tunnels, where they are capable of detecting even the slightest change in the vibration signature of a fan, providing an early warning of any degradation in performance.
Monitran's vibration sensors can be used in a number of ways:
* Offline, with measurements being transmitted to a switchbox for subsequent collection by a portable data collector.
* With a 4-20mA output, allowing data to be captured in realtime by a PLC or similar control system.
* With Monitran's 6000 Series multichannel rack-mounted system, which provides on-line protection, with signal conditioning and alarm facilities for vibration, temperature, speed, displacement and pressure inputs.
