Economical and reliable solutions for pH customers

Rosemount Analytical offers a new solution for reducing operating costs of troublesome pH measurement with the new Model PA-933, Cleanstar pH linear extraction valve. This new valve provides maximum sensor life and reduced maintenance costs where steam-in-place or clean-in-place treatment is required, such as in the pharmaceutical, biotech and food and beverage industries.
Automatic cleaning is possible with the Cleanstar pH due to its compact and innovative design. The Cleanstar pH, when used in conjunction with Rosemount Analytical's Model 54 pH/ORP's integral timer, eliminates the need for routine maintenance by a plant operator. The cleaning sequence is initiated by the programmable signal from the Model 54. A PLC (programmable logic controller) or DCS (distributive control system) receives the signal and subsequently sends out an electrical signal to the pneumatically operated valve to start automatic cleaning. This procedure allows for a continuous process flow while ensuring an efficient and reliable cleaning, all within one loop.
With its cleaning and storage capabilities, the Cleanstar pH increases the accuracy and reliability of the pH sensor. Sensor life is extended because the sensor, when it is not in use, is stored in the wash port in water or a solution of the customer's choice. Another advantage to automatic cleaning is that the sensor can be pulled out of the process after its required sterilisation cycle is performed, and the tank can continue the strict steam sterilisation cycle it requires, eliminating the need to disrupt the overall process operating parameters. Alternatively, the sensor can also be SIP or CIP-cleaned in the Cleanstar wash port.
