Pump station gas detection system

September 2000 Analytical Instrumentation & Environmental Monitoring

Scott/Bacharach, represented locally by Measuretech, a Tyco International company, is offering what it believes is a unique pump station gas detection system within their range of products.

In sewage pumping/lift stations, build-up of methane, hydrogen sulphide and other gasses which displace oxygen can pose severe risk to both personnel and property. The Scott/Bacharach system comprises a four-channel receiver and three to four individual gas transmitters. The receiver provides a common three-digit display of gas concentration, which can scan through all measured channels or be locked onto an individual channel. Individual channel LED indications of Low, High & Fail alarms are simply programmed and common relays enable remote annunciation of alarm, power loss and the unlikely event of transmitter failure.

The explosion-proof transmitters display the gas concentration and provide a 4 to 20 mA signal back to the receiver. All transmitter parameter adjustments are done nonintrusively and the system is equipped with local inhibit, ensuring true single-operator calibration.

There are pinless 'pop-in' sensor connections on the oxygen and hydrogen sulphide transmitters and a self-diagnostics feature to detect loop failure and indicate sensor life expenditure. These are standard features on this UL approved monitoring system.

The truly versatile pump station gas detection system from Scott/Bacharach forms part of an extensive range of fixed toxic and combustible gas detection systems as well as flame detection, paper tape detectors and a full range of portable products for measurement of almost every source of gas leakage.

The recent merger of three of the world's major gas detection companies, Scott, Bacharach & EIT place Measuretech in a good position to be able to provide modern products to suit each industry's applications.
