The ADAM-5510/P31 from Advantech is a PC-based soft-logic controller with an IEC 1131-3 compliance run-time engine. The controller provides 512 KB flash disk for the user's program, 12 KB battery back-up SRAM for data status and logger, two RS232 and one RS485 ports in a small and compact package.
Each ADAM-5510/P31 can handle up to four I/O modules. The total network nodes provide up to a 64 multidrop system. Targeted at PLC users with a need for distributed control and changing processes, the controller is an ideal solution for applications such as batch control, building automation and water/waste treatment.
The ADAM-5510/P31 offers the Advantech Paradym-31 run-time engine for the execution of standard IEC 1131-3 programs. This is an easy to use development workbench that provides three powerful graphic design languages based on the IEC 1131-3 standard for soft-logic configuration. These include sequential function charts (SFC), relay ladder logic (RLL) and function block diagram (FBD) to define automation and control procedures. The benefits of IEC 1131-3 languages include not only increasing the choice of design languages beyond ladder logic but also making development fast and easy.
The Paradym-31 is tightly integrated with Intellution's 32 bit FIX industrial automation software, the standard in industries worldwide. Within its one step configuration I/O points are defined only once. This significantly reduces engineering and maintenance time.
