Chemical oxygen demand microwave water monitor

The Seres chemical oxygen demand (COD) microwave water monitor harnesses the criteria adopted in international regulations to assess effluent quality.

The COD measures the quality of oxygen required for the chemical oxidation of organic matter present in water, using potassium dichromate. The value measured provides a quantitative estimate of everything that can be oxidised - that is, most of the organic compounds and some oxidisable mineral salts (sulphites, sulphides, etc).

The monitor uses the latest microwave technology to measure the chemical oxygen demand in just a few minutes. Assessment of the COD value, usually requiring two hours (as a result of the presence of aromatic hydrocarbons) is achieved within 15 minutes, under exposure to focused microwaves. On-line installation is made possible based on the monitor's ability to perform quick, sequential measurements.
