Honeywell's Seres Total Organic Carbon 2000 water monitor takes account of the carbon present in organic matter, providing a measurement of the organic pollution present - which in most cases can be correlated to the Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD).
Analysis involves low temperature oxidation by UV radiation of the organic carbon following the elimination of inorganic carbon. Purified carbon dioxide is measured using infrared technology. The TOC harnesses these two modes of analysis to provide continuous operation with a 9 min time lag between sample input and measurement display - and sequential operation with one measurement every 15 min. This simple-to-operate monitor requires limited maintenance and provides easy dialogue with its operator.
It is well suited for use at both urban and industrial sites, particularly in regard to wastewater processes. It is also used in natural feed water for drinking water production plants and for surface water control.
