SI conference a huge success

December 2001 System Integration & Control Systems Design

With over 65 delegates in attendance, the recent Futuristix-Wonderware's System Integrator conference was the largest of its kind ever held in southern Africa. The conference was held on 5-7 October 2001 and attracted the cream of the crop of system integrators involved with all aspects of industrial automation, manufacturing, maintenance and information management.

"In addition to holding our annual user conferences," says Futuristix-Wonderware MD Mike le Plastrier, "we are unique in being the only company to hold a conference focusing solely on addressing the needs of system integrators. This is an indication of the wide acceptance of Wonderware's expanding range of solutions across all areas of industry. In fact, our annual SI conferences often attract more delegates than attend the user conferences of other solution suppliers."

In April this year, these same system integrators had the opportunity of sharing their accomplishments at Futuristix-Wonderware's User Conference at Sun City, an event attended by over 250 SA manufacturing and industrial automation professionals and overseas speakers. Now, it will be their turn to see what's coming out of the Wonderware solution development pipeline.

"Not only are existing solutions like InTouch, InControl, InTrack, InSQL, Avantis and others in a continuous process of enhancement to meet the needs of SIs and their end-users," continues le Plastrier, "but new and highly significant products such as ArchestrA, DT Analyst and Industrial SNMP Suite unify existing solutions and extend our solution offering to provide more end-user functionality."

Wonderware's ArchestrA framework reduces solution design delays by allowing OEMs and VARs to more readily build custom industrial market solutions through the addition of their domain expertise to existing solutions. "In a world where differences in manufacturing and production processes are as numerous and different as there are companies, ArchestrA allows SIs to focus on adding their application expertise rather than fighting technology."

DT (DownTime) Analyst enables plant managers to easily determine if production equipment is functioning at optimum levels and how to take corrective action when necessary. "DT Analyst, and our condition-based enterprise asset management solution, Avantis, provide an unprecedented level of control over ROI, minimised downtime, maintained production and the evaluation of plant at the procurement stage," says le Plastrier. "Our range of offerings have now gone far beyond scada and focus on all those processes that create wealth in any manufacturing or production process. And they do so in an integrated way that protects the end-user's investment while providing them with the functionality they asked for in the first place."
