Sensors detect flames while ignoring other IR
November 2001
Sensors & Transducers
Trolex is offering flame sensors for the detection of fires, flames and sources of combustion in open areas. These sensors feature high infrared sensitivity and are able to reliably detect flames through oil, dust, water vapour or ice. They respond to fires and sources that are invisible to the eye - including reflected radiation. The dual infrared sensors give the product high immunity to solar radiation and the ability to discriminate between genuine flames and spurious sources of infrared.
Flame and spark detectors are available where an instantaneous response to the presence of flames, spurious sparks in ducts, hoppers and dust extraction systems, is needed. These products would be suitable for use where flammable dusts are present. Trolex also offers its TX9044 programmable sensor controller, which may be used together with up to eight flame monitoring loops with programmable alarms, fault monitoring, line monitoring, alarm logging and RS485 data comms (MODBUS).
Trolex intrinsically safe EExia Group 2 products are suitable for zone zero, one and two hazardous areas. Product range covers sensors for detection of fire, gas, temperature, vibration, airflow, and pressure as well as capacitive level and insertion level sensors.
