Reliable on-line analysers with automatic calibration

March 2014 Analytical Instrumentation & Environmental Monitoring

Mettler Toledo Thornton’s 2300Na sodium and 2800Si silica analysers provide efficient and reliable monitoring of low contaminant concentrations for power cycle chemistry and water treatment applications. They use industry-proven technology with innovative approaches to provide assurance of water purity that minimises corrosion and maximises water production.

Sodium is responsible for corrosion in high-value turbines and other parts of the generation cycle. Early detection of contamination allows time for taking corrective action before serious damage occurs. The Thornton 2300Na offers a new design for a traditional measurement for pure water treatment and power cycle chemistry monitoring.

The Thornton 2800Si is a reliable on-line instrument and provides assurance of water purity to optimise ion exchange production of pure water and to minimise silica deposition in turbines. Early detection of trace contamination is enabled with minimal operator supervision.

Using the 2300Na and 2800Si analysers for ultrapure water monitoring at sub-ppb levels, ensures the highest quality water is delivered. Any sodium or silica breakthrough of a polisher cation/anion resin is immediately detected at sub-ppb levels and contaminated water can be diverted before it reaches critical areas. These on-line analysers are ideal for pure water treatment cation/anion exchange monitoring, power steam quality monitoring and power condensate polisher monitoring.

The analysers provide fully automatic, unattended calibration ensuring reliable operation and excellent repeatability and the low reagent consumption saves costs and maintenance.
