The Turck Bi50-CP80 embeddable proximity sensor features a long sensing range (rated operating distance of 50 mm to mild steel). It satisfies difficult proximity sensing applications where the target must be positioned at a longer range to avoid impact or avoid moving parts in the sensing process.
Especially significant, this sensor can achieve this exceptionally long range while totally embedded in steel utilising a rugged aluminium shield. This shield slides directly over the sensor to shield it electrically from false triggering. Equally important, it provides a superior mechanical shield surrounding the sensor and protecting it from impact from equipment and parts adjacent to the sensing application.
The Bi50-CP80 is available in AC, DC and two-wire AC/DC versions. It can be programmed for NO or NC operation by its connection. It features a built-in terminal chamber or it can be mated with a tough 2 m minifast or microfast cordset, which meet IP67 seal rating standards.
The sensor is also available with electrical protection against short circuits in the three-wire DC and AC/DC versions. The unit also features dual diagnostics LEDs - a green LED indicates 'power on' and flashes in the event of a short circuit; a red LED indicates 'output energised'.
The Bi50-CP80 is constructed with a rugged plastic PBT housing that meets IEC IP67 standards, making it rugged and dependable in harsh sensing environments. The operating temperature range is -25 to +70°C.

IT in Manufacturing
Personnel safety systems on machines are often seen as a necessary evil. To function correctly, a safety device is required to be self-checking, which adds more complexity and costs compared to a non-safety device.
