Adroit to launch Smart SCADA at Process Expo 2013

May 2013 Analytical Instrumentation & Environmental Monitoring

Adroit Technologies will announce the launch of its new Adroit 8 – Smart SCADA at this year’s Process Expo. Smart SCADA is simpler, smarter and faster resulting in increased performance and reduced cost.

What makes Smart SCADA smart?

The single most significant difference is the new Smart UI (user interface). The new interface is based on the Microsoft ribbon menu control bar and can be accessed via the web Operator and Designer. This makes monitoring much easier and there is no need to install any remote client software. The Classic UI will still be available, however users can easily upgrade a Classic UI project to the new Smart UI system. The Smart UI also supports the importing of xaml images which can be Microsoft Expression files or CAD files that have been exported to xaml.

The Adroit Agent Server now also has an all new OEE (overall equipment effectiveness) Agent which can either calculate the OEE for the selected monitored equipment or measure a specific KPI (key performance indicator).

The OEE is a measurement on how effectively a single piece of equipment, or group of equipment, or even an entire factory or plant is being utilised. This takes into account losses in downtime, speed and quality and can therefore be used for analysis and benchmarking.

Specific KPIs are measured by applying individual OEE agents to any component or part of a process for which a variable denoting a measurement of output is available. The measured KPI can either compare actual performance with benchmark figures, or compare shift performance or today’s performance with the previous day’s performance or shift.

A Shift Agent has also been added which allows for the global configuration of shift patterns for use by any interested agents, eliminating the need to configure shift pattern information into each instance of these agents.

Bulk tag logging of analog or digital tags can now be done by specifying a list of tags to log by importing them from a .CSV file, alternatively browse individually in the DBLog agent. The agent tree on a client is automatically updated when tags are added or removed.

Some of the key features of the Adroit Smart SCADA include:

* One-click wizard updates.

* New equipment graphics library.

* Real-time design hints and tips.

* Simple Microsoft ribbon interface.

* Process performance agents (OEE/KPI).

* Enhanced project security.

* Xaml graphic import support.
