New DIN-rail-mounted multiloop control system

August 2001 System Integration & Control Systems Design

Recently launched at Process Control and Automation 2001 by Temperature Controls is the RKC's SR Mini HG System - a DIN-rail-mounted multiloop control system consisting of block-type compact modules that can be easily configured, customised and changed according to demand or future requirements.

The flexible installation, consisting of a mother block, module, PLC, PC or operation panel and RS422A allows up to 320 control loops in one system that may be controlled / monitored using a simple connection to RKC touch screen operation panel without programming. Expanding the system is performed simply by attaching additional modules.

The SR mini HG system provides easy connection with scada, PLC, or PC-based control system by Modbus or ANSI X3.28 protocol. A dedicated module for CC-link or direct communication to PLCs is also available.

The SR Mini HG System enables users to customise a compact, efficient and cost effective control system, selecting and setting up suitable function modules among wide range of function modules, such as temperature/process control, digital I/O, and analog I/O.

The system can be connected to two types of RKC touchscreen operation panels without programming enabling the creation of customised screens with easy-to-use MS Windows-based software and Panel Designer II. With the Panel Designer display editor, users can build custom OPC-H displays for specific application with easy-to-use MS Windows-based software.

Modules include a standard temperature control module with one or two channels - thermocouple or RTD. A high accuracy temperature control module is available with a sampling time of 0,1 s and an accuracy of ±0,1% of full scale. Additional inputs include DC voltage/current input and a control module with fuzzy logic that suppresses overshoot and undershoot. An analog input module has two or four outputs, which are useful for retransmission to recorders, and an output module with four channels that can be used for temperature input monitoring. A digital input module allows the addition up to two independent alarms with the digital event output module used for independent alarm output per channel, or various control status output. A digital output module allows the user to program the output logic.
