High-flow filters for steam sterilisation

February 2013 Analytical Instrumentation & Environmental Monitoring

Amazon Filters offers SupaPleat HFC high-flow filters for use in a wide range of applications. There is an increasing demand for the use of these filters in critical applications where steam sterilisation or sanitisation is required. Amazon Filters has therefore carried out a testing programme to evaluate the performance of SupaPleat HFC filters and is now able to confirm that these filters can be steamed at 121°C for up to 10 x 15 minute cycles. The user now has a choice to use either hot water, chemical or steam sanitisation. This flexibility and the convenience it offers are typically unavailable from other suppliers of high-flow systems.

SupaPleat HFC cartridges have pleated depth media offering maximum efficiency and exceptionally high-flow capabilities. Developed to suit processes where high performance is required, the low pressure loss and high dirt capacity make them the ideal choice for fine polishing applications. In-house developments have optimised the pleat pack, ensuring rigidity is maintained at all flow rates.

Three media options are offered as standard. The PP media offers wide chemical compatibility using materials that meet FDA requirements; the GP glass microfibre media has excellent dirt holding capacity; and the XP is an extended life version for more challenging applications. The PP option features the specific CRY cryptosporidium grade designed for food and beverage applications. All grades have polypropylene end caps and internal support core for resistance to back pressure. Thermal welding processes seal all components, eliminating adhesives and extractables and optimising cartridge integrity. Amazon filtration equipment is available locally from National Separations, a subsidiary of Microsep.
