The LA motor protection relays from NewElec are designed to protect LV AC motors from overloads, locked rotor, unbalance and phase loss conditions. The microprocessor relays are available in four models to cover motor full load currents from 1 to 250 A.
The LA relays provide thermal overload and phase unbalance protection in applications that would traditionally have used thermal bi-metal relays. Designed to IEC 60255-8, the LA relays feature overload protection for cyclic or sustained loads, as well as providing unbalanced current and single phasing protection.
LEDs indicate overload protection trip, single phasing/unbalance trip, in service, relay in service, healthy status and online diagnostics. A control panel mounted reset pushbutton allows manual clearance of the LED trip indication and main trip relay latch circuits. The main trip relay will pulse operation when the relay ‘in service’ indicator is off.
Compact in design, LA relays feature integral single-turn, feed-through primary winding. This allows the main cable conductor to be passed through the protection relay without breaking the mains conductor circuit. An optional internally mounted backup NiCad battery with permanent charger can be fitted to units where loss of auxiliary supply occurs during the opening of the control panel door. If required, the LA relays may be chassis mounted.
