The Model 4688IR Infrared Combustible Gas Transmitter from Scott/Bacharach, a Tyco International company, provides features unavailable on any many standalone gas transmitters.

The instrument is supplied with a standard gas set of seven gasses including methane, pentane, butane, etc and can be ordered with one of two extended gas sets, depending on customers' requirements.

The transmitters are suitable for use in Class 1 Division 1 applications and incorporate self-diagnostics of electronics, software and sensor at least twice per second and automatically compensates for detector contamination and ageing.

Maintenance requirements are minimal, and with all span information preset at the factory, no span adjustment is required. Zero adjustment is a simple and quick, nonintrusive procedure with a magnetic interface via the front face of the transmitter.

The user-friendly 41/2-digit display with adjustable contrast includes gas concentration, engineering units (%LEL or %v/v), alarm relay status, alarm inhibit, icons for alarms and lock facility. A magnetic touch button allows nonintrusive scrolling through the available menu options via the front face of the transmitters, or alternatively through the RS485 interface.

Numerous outputs are available including 4-20mA and RS485 (Modbus protocol) as well as optional relays with user adjustable set/reset points and time delays. Damping can also be set on the transmitters to avoid nuisance alarms.

With Scott/Bacharach's patented design, the 4688IR is impervious to sensor poisoning, is not saturated by high gas concentrations, does not require oxygen for operation and the sensor lifetime is not reduced by exposure to gas.

The 4688IR forms part of Scott/Bacharach's extensive range of gas instruments which includes various Combustible gas detectors, numerous Toxic gas detectors for safe and hazardous areas, portable toxic and combustible gas detectors, paper tape detectors, receiving equipment, flame detectors and firefighting accessories.
