Garage to masterclass - Endress+Hauser's world class facility in Ekurhuleni

January 2012 News

Endress+Hauser recently held an Open Day to celebrate the remarkable journey of Pyrotemp Services from a garage to the masterclass factory, Endress+Hauser Pyrotemp. Presentations by Rob Mackenzie, managing director of Endress+Hauser, and Chris Gimson, general manager of Endress+Hauser Pyrotemp, gave an insight into the company and the manufacturing capabilities of its local temperature sensor Centre of Competence. They also showed how the local market has benefitted from the transfer of skills and know-how from Endress+Hauser worldwide. Maximum use of local skills and competencies has been made in order to optimise the supply chain and provide the most economic and flexible service to the customer.

This was followed by a tour of the modern, beautifully maintained factory. Highlights were the only laser etching machine in the country for marking components – every part is numbered individually – the brand new calibration laboratory, and the expert demonstration by staff of the assembly of a temperature sensor. Endress+Hauser puts great store in developing its people. A typical example is Lettie Miya, who started her career at E+H as a cleaner and is now a dispatch clerk.
