Tunnel air control, garage air control, and general CO detection are all applications requiring continuous safety precautions against excessive lethal fumes. Continuous monitoring of the environment in these situations is essential, and can be easily implemented at relatively low cost.
The Riken GD-K8 CO gas detector from AFH Devers is a small wall mounting unit, 100 x 241 x 43 mm, capable of measuring CO in the range 0-300 ppm. It can be operated from a standard 220 V a.c. supply, or 24 V d.c. power supply. It will operate successfully within the relative humidity range of 40-90%, and temperature range of -10 to +40°C.
The 24 V d.c. model detects by diffusion with a response time of less than 30 s, and the 220 V d.c. model incorporates an integrated pump with which to draw samples and has a response time of less than 20 s. This reliable sensor produces a linear 4-20 mA output signal - which can be used for data recording, alarms etc.
