The Powertrab PWT lightning arrester from Phoenix Contact protects three-phase industrial power supplies up to 554/960 VAC against damage caused by surge voltages. With a rated voltage of 800 VAC and its high performance parameters, this Type 1 arrester is especially suitable for industrial applications, such as wind turbines or power distribution systems.
The three-pole module is compliant with lightning protection class 1 with a nominal discharge surge current (10/350) μs of 100 kA. What makes it unique is the combination of the low protection level of 4,5 kV with the high TOV rating up to 1500 VAC for 5 s and 1960 VAC for 200 ms. The devices have no secondary or leakage current.
The multistage function monitoring provides the required data as remote indication signal for maintenance purposes. In addition, the red-green LED provides a status display directly at the device. The arrester has a short-circuit current rating of 50 kA and can be protected up to 400 A. It is shock and vibration-tested up to 25 g, and operates reliably up to altitudes of 4000 metres. The large power reserves guarantee a long service life.
Measuring and analysing PV circuit performance Comtest
Electrical Power & Protection
Regardless of the test method, you must know the plane of array irradiance and cell temperature to evaluate PV circuit performance. Proper sensor types and test methods like the Fluke Solmetric PVA 15i-V curve tracer should be used for reliable results.
