The ISM technology (intelligent sensor management), new from Mettler Toledo, allows users of process analytical equipment to reduce the maintenance costs of loops significantly, while also increasing the safety of the production process. This fully digital and low-impedance signal transmission secures a trouble free, humidity insensitive communication for pH, redox and dissolved oxygen measurements systems.
Digital ISM sensors are equipped with an integrated RFID chip in the sensor head that stores all relevant sensor parameters and algorithms for enhanced sensor diagnostics, providing the user with real-time sensor status for continuous performance monitoring and early fault detection. Complemented by the iSense Asset Suite software, ISM sensors can be calibrated in the laboratory, ready for use without the need for further calibration at point of installation.
An ISM measurement loop is more reliable and generates less maintenance costs than a conventional equivalent loop. Predictive maintenance is easy with the adaptive calibration timer that calculates the time to the next calibration. Moreover, ISM enables electronic documentation of the sensor operation, reducing errors and time consuming paperwork.
The broad portfolio of high-performance pH, Redox and DO sensors offer seamless integration into a process control system with Profibus or Foundation Fieldbus digital communication.
