The new ifm switched-mode power supplies are available in two designs: the BasicLine comes in a compact plastic housing while the ClassicLine has a robust metal housing. In both cases the slim housings require little space on the DIN rail. The power supplies can start without minimum load and they are short circuit and overload protected. The various operating states are signalled by two LEDs and a DC output and the wide input range makes them suitable for use worldwide.
Special features of the ClassicLine are the mains buffering time of up to 400 ms and the ‘intelligent power reserve’. At 1,5 times full load, the power supplies can provide extra current for 5 seconds. This additional power allows difficult loads such as motors and DC/DC converters to be started with ease. The input voltage range is from 100 to 240 VAC and the output voltage can be set from 24 to 28 VDC.
Other versions of the power supplies are designed for the AS-Interface fieldbus system and also have integrated data decoupling as well as a constant current facility.
