Luminescent dissolved oxygen analyser

November 2010 Analytical Instrumentation & Environmental Monitoring

Guaranteed data confidence with the new Orbisphere 3100 portable LDO analyser.

Hach Lange has announced the launch of the Orbisphere 3100 portable luminescent dissolved oxygen (LDO) analyser. This analyser has been designed to guarantee data confidence when measuring dissolved oxygen at ppb level and also improve process efficiency within the power, industrial and beverage industries. The analyser uses the latest LDO technology to eliminate traditional membranes and electrolyte. Optimised electronics, a minimised sample path and rapid temperature measurements ensure a fast measurement time and an accuracy of ±0,8 ppb to a detection limit of 0,6 ppb. Both the time it requires to measure and the production of typical product waste can be reduced using the Orbisphere 3100. Measurement accuracy and fast response time are made possible through optimised electronics, a minimised sample path and rapid temperature measurements. The integrated flow chamber, meter, adjustment and stop allow measurements in less than a minute to minimise preparation time and workload. A unique flow lock system blocks both the input and output of the sample path and ensures an optimal recovery time for the next measurement.

The intuitive optical keypad allows the data to be easily read from the wide colour screen and transferred via USB. An alarm system also allows operators to see instantly whether production processes are in specification and helps them make the right decisions fast. Manufactured to ensure cost effective operation, the 3100 is practically maintenance free with only one calibration required every four years. The sturdy outer body frame is a stainless steel IP66 enclosure to endure the harsh environments found in power plants and breweries.

Hach Lange launched its first LDO optical sensor seven years ago. Since then, LDO technology has proven a success within many industries and continues to attract new users’ every day. The Orbisphere 3100 uses this principle to offer power plants significant operating and cost benefits.
