The PV-SET and VAL-MS 1000DC family of surge arresters from Phoenix Contact effectively protect photovoltaic systems against surge voltages. There are optimum protective devices available for all generally encountered applications. The photovoltaic sets are pre-installed connection boxes for single or five-string systems up to 1000 VDC with IP65 protection. The VAL-MS 1000 DC protective devices can be individually installed on size NS 35 mounting rails.
All versions are based on pluggable surge arresters. They comprise a multichannel base unit, with one protective plug per channel. Every plug has its own function monitoring and status display. Additional special features, such as: remote signalling contact; solar connector connection at the enclosure; generator disconnect switch; and test terminals are dependent on the particular device type.
The number of channels is coordinated to the application for which the protective device is designed. For servicing, the protective connectors can be withdrawn without incurring any installation work. The mobile Checkmaster testlaboratory tests the connectors locally on site.
