Power supply and UPS

June 2010 Electrical Power & Protection

The new Mini UPS power supply from Phoenix Contact provides 4 A at 12 VDC and secures the operation of all connected loads in electrical systems, both when the mains supply is operating and when line faults occur. Compact and simple to use, it combines the power supply unit and the uninterruptible power supply in a modular electronic housing.

The low-profile design saves space on the mounting rail, while the wide range input permits supply voltages from 85 to 264 VAC; a regulated and adjustable output voltage from 10 to 16 VDC is available at the output. In buffer mode, the battery module supplies an output voltage of between 13,6 and 9,6 VDC; the buffer time varies according to the load current.

Comprehensive signalling using three indicator lamps and active switching outputs increases the plant and system availability. Battery charging status, operational readiness, buffer mode, as well as alarm messages – eg, when the battery module is at a low level – can be displayed. The lifetime of the battery module is extended as a result of optimised battery management through temperature compensation which reduces stress on the battery at high ambient temperatures. The pre-assembled connecting cable minimises installation time and costs.
