Measure dust concentration in wet gases

April 2010 Analytical Instrumentation & Environmental Monitoring

Durag’s D-R 820 F is a system that reliably measures dust concentration in wet gases and sticky dusts that tend towards caking. The highly sensitive system for continuous extractive dust concentration measurement operates using the principle of scattered light.

Compact in design, the D-R 820F provides an automatic function test with soiling correction without any laborious gas withdrawal. The instrument has very low maintenance requirements and there is no need for device adjustment.

The system comprises a special sampling probe, a gas conditioning unit (dilution, tempering), the laser dust monitor, an injector, two fans and an electronic evaluation unit. The sampling probe and the measuring chamber form an assembly. The electronic evaluation unit and one side-channel compressor for operating the injector and one for generating the diluting air are mounted together on a rack frame. The system meets IP55 protection class requirements and operates in a –20 to 50°C ambient temperature range.

The measuring range with dust in operation is 0-15 (max. 100) mg per cubic metre and space requirements are 1 100x1 75 x1 100 mm. Potential applications measurements in saturated gas downstream of desulphurisation plants, downstream of wet cleaning plants, waste incineration plants, particle board manufacture, urea industry and insulating material manufacture.
