Thermal imagers for precise analysis
April 2010
Analytical Instrumentation & Environmental Monitoring
Inconsistencies in production processes often result in costly downtime, for instance: defective components in switch cabinets can cause fires. With the high temperature resolution of testo’s new thermal imagers, even small temperature differences can be identified with extreme accuracy.
Highly flexible and application-oriented exchangeable lenses ensure that the right image section is always visible in the display, while the integrated digital camera facilitates documentation. With the automatic hot/cold spot recognition, critical temperature conditions are marked, ensuring uninterrupted error localisation on site. Multiple-page thermograph reports can also be created quickly and easily using the PC software.
In electrical systems, thermograph images assist in detecting defective components. The testo 875 and the testo 881 thermal imagers offer integrated site management for the structuring of inspection routes. In addition to the infrared recording, a real image of the measurement site can be recorded with the digital camera.
The 881 also includes a speech function; during inspection, distinctive details can be stored with the infrared image as spoken commentary.
In mechanical systems, a high level of heat emissions may indicate an elevated level of stress. With its high temperature resolution of 50 mK, the testo 881 provides an exact diagnosis. (The measuring range of the testo 881 thermal imager can be flexibly extended up to 550°C using the high temperature option.) Critical heat signatures can be checked directly in the instrument using the isotherm function, allowing timely preventative measures to be taken.
