Intrinsically safe pressure transducers

Strain Measurement Services has been manufacturing pressure and level transmitters since 1985. SMS claims that the range is the only South African designed and manufactured transducer of this type available with either a plastic or stainless steel casing, with SABS IS certification. The transducers cover the range 0-5 kPa and 0-3000 bar, signal outputs include 4-20 mA; 0-5 V; 0-10 V and 1,5-2 mV/V. Units are available with either a standard 2 m rear-entry integral cable or with a 2 m side entry to allow easy access for zero and span adjustment. The robust, high-grade stainless steel dam level transmitters provide a cost-effective level measuring system. When coupled to a remote display unit the output signal is shown in metres to give an accurate and reliable reading. With a 50 µm filter and powered by a 2-wire loop, the submersible transmitter is ideal for dam and reservoir use as well as in tanks with corrosive media. The transmitter can also be used for river-bed, borehole and dam profiling.

Also offered is a range of IS pressure indicators with a 3 1/2 digit LCD display for ease of calibration directly in engineering units. A unique feature of this range is that the SMS pressure indicators offer the same retransmission output as the SMS pressure transducers and are also available with the same options.

All SMS transducers and indicators have been independently tested and conform to IP65 rating and are burnt-in at 80°C.
