Manning Environmental water and wastewater samplers offer both vacuum and peristaltic type technologies in both portable and stationary units, for toxic or nontoxic samples, with optional refrigeration. This enables them to supply the optimum unit for most applications. This line of samplers is now back in South Africa. They are being exclusively marketed worldwide by GLI International, which is locally represented by PREI Instrumentation.
All the samplers have a lift ability of 8,22 m (28 ft), indicate realtime with +1 min per month accuracy, have a lithium battery that provides five-year battery back-up and a number of programming and data logging features. These include sampling based on external device input, to enable the frequency of sampling to be altered during certain periods (flow, level, time or chemical analysis).
The laboratory analysis is only as good as the samples, and there are some Manning samplers which were installed in 1983-1986, still in regular use, reliably providing accurate and repeatable samples. These samplers are used for monitoring storm water run-off, sewer overflows, rivers and effluent. They are also used for process pre-treatment compliance and discharge permit compliance.
