The Leuze ODS 96B has been designed to give industry access to an optical distance sensor with exceptionally fast measurement cycles for use in highly dynamic processes applications.
The new generation Leuze ODS 96B allows the user to select any optional light spot size between small (S) and extra-large (XL) when using laser light sources. The capability to adjust the light spot size in the laser provides flexibility, for example: a small light spot is suitable for structured surfaces or the detection of small objects while an XL light spot is used when working with objects without cohesive surfaces.
The sensor operates on the basis of triangulation using the very latest CCD technology for evaluation. The units are designed for continuous distance measurement, position monitoring and for dynamic product gauging applications such as those found on conveyor lines covering a measurement range from 60 to 2000 mm.
Performing cyclical measurements within intervals of just milliseconds the sensors are able to pick up the process dynamics very rapidly, which results in a more finely meshed measurement grid that ensures precise and detailed information with more stable values and greater process efficiency.
Alongside high speed measurement processes the units also offer absolute accuracy with a resolution of 0,1 mm and repeat accuracy of 0,5%. One of the most striking features being its bright, legible LED display with membrane keypad for measured value indication and for menu prompted sensor parameterisation.
The availability of several product variants and menu settings allows the Leuze ODS 96B to be adapted for a wide range of applications. The menu contains options for selection of the optimum operating mode and suitable filters, and infrared, red light or laser light source variants are available.
